FREE Yoga Class & Workshop

Saturday 1st July

FREE Yoga class : 11.00 – 12.00pm

FREE Mantra & Yantra Drawing : 1.00 – 3.00pm

 

As part of the Walkley Festival Sheffield Yoga School is offering some free sessions at our Yoga Centre on South Road.

 

The Yoga Taster class includes postures, breathing, relaxation and meditation. No experience required.

To join in with ‘The Big Draw’ Hannah has done illustrations of Frogs, Cats, Rabbits and even Sloths doing Yoga to help you practice at home. Everyone coming to the taster can choose one to take home.

Our yoga studio is a shoe free zone, so please be prepared to take off shoes. All yoga equipment is provided.

 

In the afternoon our studio will be open to anyone who would like to drop in and do some mindfulness coloring in of a Mandala or Yantra, or if you like you can sketch the interesting views of Walkley through our windows.

Drawing materials provided.
Be prepared to take off shoes as our studio is a shoe free zone!

Beginner Yoga Classes

 

At Sheffield Yoga School we take a systematic approach to learning and developing the practice of Yoga. If we get the foundations of our practice right from the start then everything we do in Yoga will be so much more rewarding.

Our beginner classes include posture work, breathing techniques, deep relaxation and meditation.

We teach a ‘classical’ system of Yoga, which incorporates the whole person. It maintains the strength and flexibility of the body, promotes health and well being; it teaches us to live with awareness, to be present, so that we can fully engage with life and fulfill our potential.

The beauty of this system of Yoga is that it retains a vast wealth and depth of Yoga practices; there really is something for everyone.

Practical Meditation – For Every Day Use!

 

Our next Yoga & Meditation Course will start on Thursday 26th January .

This will be a 7 week course and the subject will be ‘Practical meditation – For Every Day Use!’

Classes will be 7.30 – 8.30am and will take place in our Yoga Centre on South Road in walkley.
The fee for the course is £45.00 .

The course will consist of Yoga posture work, some breathing practices and a selection of meditation techniques which you can use on a daily basis.

Often the very best techniques in Yoga are the simplest ones; these are the ones we can actually use. It is through regular practice that we go deeper into meditation and it is through regular practice that the benefits of meditation begin to show in our lives.

The course will begin on Thursday 26th January.
There will be a two break during the last two weeks of February (so no classes on the 16th or 23rd February).
The final class will be on 23rd March.

This course is for taking our practice into daily life and making it part of our routine, part of what we do.

Daytime Yoga in Walkley

We have now three daytime Yoga classes starting at our Yoga Centre in Walkley.

These classes are on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning (see our Timetable page for details). The teacher, Hannah Penn, has been teaching Yoga in Sheffield for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience and training to draw on.

These classes are ‘Yoga for All’ classes and suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Beginners are very welcome.

The Monday morning class (10.00 – 11.15am) is a slower paced class. It includes joint freeing exercises to release tension and improve the suppleness of the body, restorative postures designed to lower stress & anxiety levels, deep relaxation and meditation.

The Wednesday and Thursday morning classes are more general classes and include posture work, breathing practices, relaxation (Yoga Nidra) and meditation.

Our new Yoga Centre is on the corner of South Road and Fir Street in Walkley. It is a beautiful space, perfect for Yoga practice.

Parking for these classes is no problem at all.

NEW Beginner Class – Monday 31st October

 

The class will be 6.00 – 7.30pm and will be held in our Yoga Centre on South Road in Walkley. This is a new beginner Yoga class and the first session is Monday 31st October.

The teacher is Caroline Skelton. Caroline is a highly trained and experienced teacher, she is qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga, having studied the full 3 year Diploma Teacher Training Course. She has been teaching Yoga in Sheffield for many years.

Our beginner Yoga classes offer a structured and progressive introduction to Yoga practice. The system of Yoga we teach is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability, and new beginners are very welcome.

The course may also interest people with previous experience of Yoga who want to make sure that the foundations of their practice are solid.

Our beginner classes include :

  • Posture work : to stretch & strengthen the body
  • Breathing practice : fundamental to health and well being
  • Deep Relaxation : to help deal with the negative effects of stress
  • Meditation / Mindfulness : for clarity and peace of mind
  • Home practice guidance : A regular home practice, combined with class attendance is the key to the many benefits of Yoga practice.

The beauty of the system of Yoga we teach is that it incorporates the whole person. It teaches us to live with awareness, to be present, so that we can fully engage with life and fulfill our potential. There really is something for everyone.

Trance Dance Fusion Class : Fridays 6.30 – 7.30pm

End the week dancing!  

This class involves a fusion of dance moves to great music, with a Yoga inspired cool down at the end.
Guaranteed to bring fun and fitness to your Friday evenings!

Cost : £6.00.
Class starts 17th June.
