Swami Pragyamurti

Swami Pragyamurti was a very special person and Yoga teacher. She was a mentor and inspiration to many people across the UK and beyond. She ran the London Satyananda Yoga Centre and opened up her house as a centre for Yoga teaching, training and lifestyle.

She died a few years ago but left behind a wealth of wonderful memories and some great recordings. We’re grateful to her daughter for letting us share some of these recordings with you.

Swami Pragyamurti’s Recordings

In 2004 a six volume series of professionally recorded CDs were released. The series includes Yoga Nidra, meditation and other practices originally devised by Paramahansa Satyananda Saraswati and Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, taught by Swami Pragyamurti.

These recordings are now available to download on a donation basis.

Donations

If you use or download any of these recordings please make a donation to the Nirvanavan Foundation.

Swami Pragyamurti supported organisations and charities throughout the world. She believed in Yoga as a ‘tool for transformation’, to be used to make life better for people. She was a long term supporter of the Nirvanavan Foundation, a charity set up to provide education & support for children from the poorest villages of Rajasthan, India.

Please note : You can share this page but do not share the recordings directly.

Sankalpa

Sankalpa (or ‘resolve’) is an important part of Yoga Nidra. It is a short, positive statement that we make for whatever change we want to make in our lives. When you make a sankalpa it’s important to find a form of words that works for you and then to stick with it. We repeat our sankalpa in Yoga Nidra, but we can say it at any time.

Sankalpa is a seed we plant deep inside and in Yoga Nidra we create an environment in which that seed can grow.

The meditation practice of Hridayakasha Dharana works with breath, awareness and emotion, witnessed in the space of the heart. This is not the physical region around the heart but a more subtle spiritual space where feelings and emotions are transformed into peace, joy, harmony and love.

Chaturtha Pranayama

Chaturtha Pranayama is both a meditation practice and a pranayama (breathing practice), combining awareness of breath, the mantra OM, and the Chakras (subtle energy centres of the body). Chaturtha Pranayama means ‘pranayama of the fourth state’ a transcendental state beyond words. It leads to a deeper awareness and understanding of the Chakras and is a useful practice for more advance meditation practices.

Introduction to Prana Nidra

This introductory practice of Prana Nidra combines awareness of breath, Chakras and Nadis (energy channels). Practice Prana Nidra lying in Shavasana.
