Release, Refesh, Renew

with Hannah Penn
Saturday 9th November, 10 – 4pm
Sheffield Yoga School, South Road, S6 3TA
£55

This workshop provides an opportunity to look a little deeper into ways in which we can use different elements of Yoga practice to look after ourselves, to maintain health & wellbeing and to enrich our lives.

What the day involves

Movement & Asana – Release

The emphasis of the posture work for this day is on relaxation, releasing tension and maintaining / improving our range and ease of movement. There will be ‘traditional’ Yoga asana with a focus on stillness, as well as movment and mobility exercises to remove stiffness and also more playful floorwork patterns to explore.

In the afternoon we will practice some simple facial yoga techniques to exercise and refresh often neglected muscles.

The movment & posture work will be soothing for body and mind.

Breathing – Refresh

Working with breath can have great benefits for body and mind. It can be profoundly calming and at the same time help us feel more refreshed – but breath work needs to be practiced with an emphasis on relaxation and an absence of strain or hurry.

This day will provide the time and space for Yoga breathing practices and also some of the lesser know mudras that work with breathing and are particularly helpful for lowering stress levels.

Sadhana & Sankalpa – Renew

We will take time to ‘stop and take stock’ of how life is going and look at making or renewing your resolve / sankalpa.
Once we have a resolve we will practice a full Yoga Nidra with a journey visualisation to energise and awaken creativity and improve resilience.

Part of this day will be formulating ideas on how to renew and refresh your own Sadhana / personal development and practice.

The workshop will close with some simple but powerful meditation from the Tantric tradition to help us ‘be present’ in daily life as well as on our mats.
