Autumn Yoga & Wellbeing Workshop

with Helena Turner & Sarah Wilson
Saturday 14th September, 1–5pm
Sheffield Yoga School, Walkley, S6 3TA
£45

The first in a series of workshops working with the seasons. In this one we are connecting to Autumn. Letting go of what no longer serves you and setting your intentions for the coming months. With Hatha and Yin Yoga, journaling, meditation and crystal sound bath.

About the workshop

Living in harmony with nature helps us to feel more balanced and joyful. As we connect to Autumn and transition from Summer, we see the beauty around us: leaves changing colour, plants starting to lose their leaves, the last of the fruits harvested.

If we can bring the essence of Autumn into our own lives, we can reflect on what we have achieved, what we need to let go of and what we need for the coming months.

Day Outline

The first part of the afternoon will be a Hatha Yoga session taught by Helena Turner.

Helena’s session has a particular focus on Saucha (cleanliness) the first of the 5 Niyamas of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. There will be simple, yet powerful asanas that strengthen digestion, clear the mind and develop discipline. She will demonstrate the practice of Neti, nasal cleansing and you will learn the pranayama technique of Kapalabhati – the skull cleansing breath.

All these practices can easily be incorporated into daily life and move us towards being happier, healthier, more awake and aware in life.

A Yin Yoga session follows, led by Sarah Wilson. Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice. Postures are held for 3–5 minutes, with the focus on the ligaments and fascia. The postures stimulate the meridians. We will be working with the energy of the lungs, as the lungs are associated with Autumn.

The yoga practices will allow us to release tension from our body and quieten our minds so that we can connect more deeply to our own inner knowing.

Sarah will then lead an Autumnal guided meditation, which will be followed by journaling, with a focus on gratitude for the Summer, and preparing and planning for the Autumn.

Helena will end the afternoon with a relaxing Yoga Nidra and a sound bath with crystal singing bowls. Time to reaffirm your intentions and let go of that which is no longer serves you.

Please bring a bolster (if you have one) and pen and paper for journaling. This workshop is suitable for all levels of yoga practice.
