Gentle Somatic Yoga for Legs & Hips
Saturday 25th March, 10.00 – 1.00pm
with Amanda Franklin and David Fleming
Leg and hip joints can lose their flexibility and become tight and painful for many reasons. Sitting for long hours at a desk or in a car, suffering an accident or an injury, having surgery, or even one-sided, repetitive movement (like holding babies on one hip) can cause the waist and muscles that move the hip to stay tightly contracted.
All of these things have a domino effect on the rest of one’s body affecting gait, posture, and range of movement, and often resulting in muscular discomfort.
This workshop can help:
- Relieve hip joint pain
- Improve mobility, coordination and muscle control in both legs and hip joints
- Improve walking, running, yoga and other activities
- Overcome injuries that resulted in leg, knee or hip pain
This workshop may be helpful for those suffering from sciatica, plantar fasciitis, piriformis syndrome, sacroiliac pain, leg length discrepancy, tight/painful hip joints, knee pain, or an uneven gait due to injury.
The teachers :
David and Amanda are both Gentle Somatic Yoga teachers, trained by James Knight, and Somatic Exercise Coaches, trained by Essential Somatics. David is also currently training as a Clinical Somatic Educator.
Both also have a background in Aerial Yoga as teachers and trainers, and have trained up to Black Belt level in the Nia Technique.
Gentle Somatics Yoga :Â
Gentle Somatic Yoga (GSY) is an exploration of movement that is revolutionary in its ability to improve health, wellbeing, quality of life, and personal performance.
