Isle of Harris Yoga Retreats
17th – 23rd May 2026
21st – 27th June 2026

Yoga Harris combines the raw, natural beauty and wide open space of the Outer Hebrides with the calm, quietness and inner space of Yoga. The combination is something special!
About the Retreats
Our retreats include a full schedule of Yoga practice with highly trained and experienced teachers. Your hosts, Hannah and Chris, have been teaching Yoga full time for 30 years and 25 years respectively.
There is also plenty of time and space to explore, enjoy and immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in the world.
Every retreat has it’s own theme, often linked to the season. The Yoga includes :
- Movement and posture work
- Breathing / Pranayama practices
- Meditation, Mudra & Mantra
- Relaxation & Yoga Nidra
- Kirtan
In your free time you can explore the area around Manish (looking out for seals, otters and eagles), visit the famous Harris beaches or just rest and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Accommodation
There is various accommodation available including single or double rooms. These are small retreats with between 5 and 8 people attending; how the rooming works depends on who books.
There is a reduced fee for anyone willing to share a room and a reduced fee for couples.
This reduction for couples helps us keep the prices down for everyone.
The accommodation is not 5 star but the location, the Yoga teaching and everything else about this retreat most certainly is!
Food
All meals are provided and are vegetarian, healthy and wholesome!
If you have any specific dietary requirements please let us know when you book.
Karma Yoga (‘Yoga in Action’) will be part of the retreat. In practice this will mean that we all help out with food preparation and washing up. Karma Yoga an important part of Yoga and helps to make a retreat like this speacial.

How to Get here

By Land & sea
To get to the Isle of Harris you can take the ferry either from Uig (Isle of Skye) to Tarbert or from Ullapool to Stornoway. The ferries are reasonably priced and a wonderful part of the journey!
PLEASE NOTE : Ferries to the islands are often fully booked well in advance, certainly for cars. It is essential to make sure you book your ferry at the same time as booking your retreat.
One option is to leave your car on the mainland, or at Skye and we can collect you from Tarbert.
By Air
Logan Air have flights into Stornoway, including direct flights from Manchester and Glasgow.
Public Transport
It’s possible to get to Harris by train to Inverness or Skye and then bus to the ferry ports at Ullapool and Uig.
What to bring?
All bedding is provided.
Yoga equipment (mats, blocks, cushions) is provided.
We suggest you bring :
- A towel
- Clothing for a variety of weather conditions!
- Waterproof clothing
- Footwear for a rugged landscape
- A torch
- All food is provided but you might want to bring fruit, snacks etc.
- Swimming gear
- Holiday insurance. Harris is a wild place, weather can be extreme, ferries and flights get cancelled, roads are mostly single track, there are very few footpaths and the landscape is nature in the raw. All of which makes it perfect for a Yoga retreat … but holiday insurance is sensible and we strongly recommend it.
- Midge repellent. Midges are rarely a problem in Harris but you might want to bring repellent (eg Smidge) or a midge hood.
Mobile phones & tech
We suggest that you use your phone as little as possible and make this time a retreat from social media, emails, news and so on. We need this more than ever nowadays.
If you want we can keep your phone safe for the some or all the time you’re here.
Phones will be kept switched off and out of sight during the Yoga practice.

Our Yoga centre
We have a beautiful, purpose built Yoga Centre in Manish, literally a stone throw from the sea. Look out the windows and you’ll see the rock, peatland and moss of a typical Harris landscape, a few sheep and the occasional sea eagle soaring overhead!
The practice room is warm and quiet, fully equipped with mats, blankets, cushions and anything else we might need for Yoga practice.

About the teachers
Chris and Hannah have been teaching Yoga full time for over 25 years. We trained initially with the British Wheel of Yoga and over the years have worked with an abundance of highly respected teachers from all over the world!

In 2002 we set up Sheffield Yoga School providing classes, workshops and courses to students and yoga teachers across the North of England. Sheffield Yoga School has built a reputation for top quality Yoga teaching and continues to flourish.
We first came to the Hebrides in 1993 for an archaeology dig on the Isle of Barra and we’ve been visiting ever since. In 2015 we started renovating a derelict croft house in Manish … and here we are.
