Essential anatomical thinking for yoga teachers

Feet ... on this Yoga & Anatomy training day we start with feet and move up!

Saturday 31st January 2026, 10 – 4pm

A training day with Lesley Dike, physiotherapist and Yoga teacher (BWY)

Repeat Day!

This workshop was first booked was full twice in November 2025 so we are running it a third time on 31st January. Early booking recommended!

In this day workshop we will start at the feet and work upwards towards the head, stopping at places of anatomical interest on the way. The format means we can work through a whole range of anatomical principles such as mobilizers and stabilizers, facet joint orientation, the role of the midfoot, muscle v. nerve differentiation etc.

Topics will include conditions commonly encountered in the yoga class and ways we can use Yoga to help. The workshop includes a look at :

  • Spinal patterns of the 21st century
  • How the structure of the spine dictates movement
  • Understanding neural pathways
  • Future proofing our bodies
  • Releasing the thoracic
  • Getting to grips with our two tier muscular system.

Lesley has taught yoga for 40 years and worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist for over 30 years. She will bring examples of real case studies to highlight our learning together. For example, why would a student’s back pain be worse after a yoga class? Why would pins and needles in the hand be worse after doing the cobra?.

The day will be a highly practical day, using yoga and other movement strategies to illustrate the learning.  There will be plenty of time for your welcome questions.
