What is a gong bath?
Gongs have been used as a shamanic healing tool for thousands of years. They are also used as a form of meditation where sound is a vehicle to clear and cleanse the mind on a deep subconscious level.
A gong bath is usually experienced lying down on your back, but it can be done in a chair. We take a little time to settle into lying down or sitting and then the gongs are played.
The vibration of the sounds builds up to trigger a meditative, contemplative state in which there is the opportunity to let go of the mind and have a holiday from our-selves. Attendees have reported relaxation, clarity to questions that had been on their mind, wonderful journeys into the subconscious, experience of visions, images, seeing colours, feeing lighter, & letting go of unwanted emotions.
Why come to a gong bath?

- It’s an hour or so with just yourself, your thoughts and feelings along with the sounds & vibrations of the gongs for company and support. A time to relax, reflect, take stock, get clear on things, revive your energy & find yourself again.
- It’s a way to meditate without any effort on your part. A gong bath meets you exactly where you are – you receive the meditative benefits of the vibrations regardless of whether your mind is busy during the bath, or you fall asleep, stay awake, whatever your experience.
- It’s a total body experience- the vibrations penetrate tissue, muscles, fluids, bones and organs, releasing tightness & blockages -attendees report muscles relaxing, releasing of tension in joints, the body becoming more relaxed.
- It improves sleep – everyone is different so it may be the best sleep you’ve had for a while, or it might be more vivid dreaming or a light sleep that night with deeper sleep in the following days.
- A gong bath is very relaxing – how often do you get chance to lie still for an hour and do nothing? From the first gong bath, emotional as well as physical blockages can be released allowing for greater relaxation. A gong bath is a safe space, much like a yoga nidra relaxation practice, where we can deal with something that’s troubling us which leaves us in a clearer and more alert state.
- Repeated gong baths can take you into a deeper and deeper place, away from ‘ourselves’ into a spaciousness and stillness rarely experienced in day-to-day life. Coupled with utilising the energy of a full moon on a monthly basis allows you to progress even further into these deeper meditative states.
- The extra time at the end of each gong bath will allow for more awareness of the ‘alert stillness’ that spiritual teachers like Eckhart Tolle refer to as the gateway to awakening – ‘be the stillness and silence that listens.
Super Wolf Moon : 2nd January

- The first full moon of winter, the Wolf Moon gets its name from the howling wolves that were often heard in olden times during January. The Wolf Moon is also known as the Old Moon and the Ice Moon, reflecting the chilly conditions and snowfall during the early winter months. It’s a Super Wolf moon for 2026 when the full moon coincides with the moon’s closest point to Earth in that month.
- Spiritually, this Super Wolf Moon at the beginning of 2026 is a time for self-reflection, emotional cleansing and setting intentions that align with our true desires.
- Januarys New Year gong bath will thus allow us to reflect on the previous year and let go of anything we wish to; – and then for the sounds and vibrations of the gongs to help illuminate our individual path for the following months, maybe revealing hidden wisdom to define what we wish to create in 2026!
Snow Moon : 30th January

- February’s Full Snow moon at the very start of the month, traditionally often referred to as either the Hunger moon, the Ice Moon or Quickening moon, symbolises snow and scarcity of food during the harsh winter months.
- This Snow Moon spiritually symbolises transformation, hope and renewal and encourages us to look inside and find new insights, trusting our heart to discover what lies inside us.
- This gong bath will again be a time for self-reflection and to re-iterate our intentions for the year and what we would like to achieve, while also releasing what no longer serves us and create space for fresh beginnings.
Worm Blood Moon : 27th February

- The March full moon at the very start of the month is named after the time of year when the soil begins to warm up and earthworms reappear, heralding the arrival of spring. The Worm Blood Moon, also known as the Storm Moon, is a potent moment of manifestation and energy especially with the total lunar eclipse this year turning the moon red.
- Many spiritual traditions regard the full moon as a period of increased energy, and the Worm Moon is especially strong. The energy of the full moon unites with the vitality of the earth as it begins to rise from its winter hibernation at this time.
- The Worm Blood Moon gong bath continues the theme of letting go of anything that no longer serves us to then allow us to focus our energy and intention in manifesting our hopes and desires of our hearts.
Pink Moon : 27th March

- This moon at the start of April coincides with the blooming of flowers, it is mostly seen as an omen of tenderness. It reminds people to embrace their feminine sides. This moon also helps people to be kind and compassionate towards one another.
- The Spiritual Meaning of a Pink Moon or Wind Moon represents rebirth, renewal, and growth. This full moon is a time to let go of old patterns and embrace new beginnings. It symbolizes a time of transformation, positivity, and healing.
- The energy of this moon and for this gong bath will be of increased vitality and growth; to find equilibrium in our emotional life and to tend to the partnerships that support our growth.
Flower Moon : 1st May

- The Full Moon of May is known as Flower Moon; it signifies the flowers that bloom during this month. The Anglo-Saxon name for May’s brightest Moon phase is Milk Moon. Celtic and Old English names are Mothers’ Moon, Bright Moon, Hare Moon, and Grass Moon.
- The Flower Moon spiritual meaning is about personal growth, renewal and the blooming of nature: it symbolizes the transition from the dormant and introspective energy of winter to the vibrant and expansive energy of summer.
- The Flower Moon gong bath will focus on fostering inner growth & spiritual awakening, unravelling old patterns to benefit personal development while also tapping into our inner wisdom.
Blue Moon : 5th June

- A Blue Moon is the 2nd full moon in a single calendar month, following a full moon that occurs at the very beginning of the month. Different cultures ascribe distinct meanings to the blue moon, often linking it to abundance, intuition and magic.
- This full moon is a sacred reminder of our connection to nature, abundance, and love. By embracing its spiritual significance and engaging in rituals and practices that align with its energy, we can deepen our understanding of ourselves and trust in the universe’s guidance.
- The powerful energy from this gong bath will harmonise with the rising summer energy and be a catalyst for acting on our intentions, making things happen, and growing our creative projects & our relationships while releasing negativity and embracing change.
Buck Moon : 3rd July

- The Full Buck Moon also known as the Meadow Moon and Blessing Moon takes its name from the time of year when antlers start to appear on male deer (bucks).
- Spiritually, the Buck Moon is the time for increased strength, courage and determination, and adding more heat or energy to your goal. This could be working on something connected to self-growth or something more tangible, such as a project you’re managing. It’s a time to blend the mystical with the practical.
- The intention for the Buck Moon gong bath will be to reflect on our progress and intentions from earlier in the year and to fully step into our power and true calling, using the heat and high energy of the summer to shine as bright as we can!
Harvest Moon : 25th September

- The Harvest Moon, the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox derives its name from the fact that the moon rises at almost the same time each evening in September providing farmers with extra light to harvest their crops.
- The Harvest Moon, then, is a time to consider your spiritual harvest. What have you been cultivating over the summer? What resources are you bringing with you into the more intellectual part of the year? Harvest is both a drawing in and a letting go. This is a time to drop habits, plans, or behaviours that aren’t working for you in order to clear the way for this new shift in energy. Its a time of balance; of equality between the dark half and the bright half of the year
- For this gong bath, the intention will be to give thanks for the good things in our lives, remind ourselves that we are abundant and attract even more positive energy into our lives. If appropriate, to also consider where we’d like to put our attention and energy as we move into the latter part of the year.
Hunter Moon : 23rd October

- The Hunters Moon name is derived from the belief that the bright moonlight aided hunters in tracking and gathering game, ensuring a bountiful supply of food for their communities. During this time, the moon’s path across the sky aligns more closely with the horizon, resulting in a longer period of moonlight throughout the night.
- The Hunter’s Moon is a powerful symbol of transition, introspection, and spiritual growth: when the veil between the physical world and the spiritual realm is very thin.
- This Hunters Moon gong bath intention will be to embrace our inner strength as well as our perseverance and focus on what we’ve accomplished and what we would like to complete before winter.
Beaver Moon : 20th November

- The Beaver Moon is the time of year traditionally when beavers seek shelter for the colder months looming ahead. This lunation was also historically known as the Frost Moon or Freezing Moon, which alludes to the shorter days and chillier temperatures that take hold at this point in the autumn.
- The November full moon is the perfect time to wrap up projects and turn inward for the winter. Spiritually its believed to be a magical time with increased psychic abilities and heightened intuition.
- This Beaver Full Moon Gong bath will direct our energy to reflect on our achievements & our resilience over the year and to embrace change and cultivate a mindset of abundance in our lives.
Cold Moon : 18th December

- The final gong bath of 2026 will be a celebration of Yule under the light of the December Cold Moon as well as recognising the the approaching of the shortest day and longest night, the winter solstice on the following Monday. This moon is also known as Big Winter Moon or Long Night’s Moon.
- The Cold Moon is a time for introspection and reflection as it marks the end of the year and the beginning of the winter season. Spiritually, its believed the Cold Moon has powerful magical attributes in helping to bring inner peace and harmony as well as providing guidance & clarity.
- With this end of year gong bath, it’s a time to acknowledge all that has been personally experienced and discovered over the past 12 months; to embrace the stillness of winter as well as setting intentions for peace & harmony for the Christmas period and for the coming year.
- Lighting will be by candlelight only (mixture of real and faux).
Why on or around a full moon?
Astrologically, full moons are known for heightening emotions, energy, and tensions — which is why we might notice more drama happening in our lives during these periods. However, the energy of the full moon can also be harnessed to help us let go of things, bring matters to a conclusion, or give our projects a boost.
Connecting with the mystical full moon energy as we’re being enveloped by the cosmic sounds of a gong bath is a great way to supercharge our goals or feel more in sync with the earth’s natural cycles.
The moon also has a powerful effect on the seas and the rising and fall of the tides and as our bodies are mostly composed of water, the vibrations have an even more powerful effect on the fluids in the body, causing them to move into stuck spaces. This activates a powerful healing response.
What to Bring and tips to get the most from your gong bath experience:
Please arrive no later than 6.10pm so we can be ready for a prompt start.
The door will be locked at 6.15pm.
Yoga mats, blankets and chairs available in the studio but please bring anything else you need to be comfortable and warm lying down for an hour.
We strongly advise bringing extra covers etc to make sure you are warm and comfortable during the gong bath.
Extra padding underneath you will make a big difference. We would recommend one (or more!) of these to lie down on :
- A thick blanket
- A duvet
- An air bed
- A padded camping mat
You will need some covers to lay over you. We’d recommend one of these :
- A duvet
- A sleeping bag
- A thick blanket or two
Relaxation is at the heart of the Gong bath so please make sure you’ll be warm and can enjoy it fully!
Tips
Eat nothing or just a snack a couple of hours before – an empty stomach means you’re not using energy up digesting food and your body will be more alert and receptive to the vibrations of the gongs.
Bring a bottle of water.
