About the course

Classical Yoga defines its goals. Whichever path we choose to follow, we need to know the aims and purpose of the practices. Awareness is the thread through it all.

We can experience profound stillness in asana and through pranayama we can still the mind. Can we then continue this journey through pratyahara and ultimately into dharana – the ability of the mind to hold one idea, one focus?

Meditation is not a practice; it is an experience that arises from sustained effortless concentration. Can we come to this point without force, without trying? Whichever branch of yoga we choose to explore deeply, if we follow it systematically it will lead us to the same place.

Awareness is everything.

Hatha Yoga is the breath holding the mind, Raja Yoga is the mind holding the breath, Karma yoga is meditation in action, Bhakti Yoga is the channelling of emotion into one point. Every path will encourage us to cross the threshold of the mind’s involvement with the senses and identity, allowing for inner experience.

The two wings we require for this journey are Abhyasa – unbroken practice, and Vairagya – non attachment.

Never give up and always let go!
