Rachael Smith

Rachael Smith is a yoga teacher, holistic practitioner and a mother to two daughters.

She has over 20 years experience in health and wellbeing. Rachael started her career in nursing and then became a holistic massage therapist and reflexologist taking a particular interest in pregnancy and postnatal massage.

In 2014 she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow in Goa, India and has since completed further training in pregnancy yoga with Janine Hurley and yin yoga with Sarah Lo.

Prior to the arrival of her first daughter in 2017 she ran a yoga studio and massage therapy business called Instinctive Health. She has many happy memories of the Instinctive Health community!

She decided to simplify her working life to fit around the needs of my family and currently teaches a vinyasa flow class on a Wednesday evening at Sheffield Yoga School.

What to expect from Rachael’s Classes

In vinyasa flow you will find yourself moving through a creative sequence of postures carefully linked with one another with the aim of unraveling different areas of your body and mind.

You’ll be encouraged to move beyond traditional yoga poses, explore your boundaries and play with fluidity. Increasing flexibility and learning more challenging positions and transitions over time.

Woven into each class will be breath work (pranayama), mudra, mindfulness meditation and guided relaxation.

“My classes are inspired by my love of being outdoors in nature and the wilds. I am currently researching the feminine relationship with nature and how that has changed throughout time. The outdoors has always been my sanctuary and I love to be cocooned by all her elements. I am always looking for ways to rewild myself and encourage others to do the same.”
