A Series of Online Teachings in Four Parts
September – November 2021
4 sessions : 10.00 – 1.00pm
£80 / £50
It is with great pleasure that we continue this series of teachings based on the Vigyana Bhairava Tanta. This text is very pertinent to the current, busy world which we live in, since it presents us with techniques which help us to live with a spiritual perception and understanding in moment-to-moment daily situations. It is non-moralistic and non-religious, and the practices point to the essence of our own Being.
Every situation can point us back towards our own fundamental Identity. This is the purpose of the teachings and practices of the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra.

More about the Course
Our life gives us the opportunity not only of experiencing the pleasure and pains of life, but also realising the fundamental basis of our embodied existence.
This course aims to help participants get an insight into the Reality which underlies what we are. Believed to have been written about one thousand years in the Himalayan region of Kashmir, the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra is most pertinent to our life in the present era. It encapsulates the timeless teachings of Yoga, Tantra and Advaita.
It presents one hundred and twelve practices (in Sanskrit, known as dharanas). Some are clearly yogic in nature, others are tantric, whilst they all point towards the advaitic (non-dualistic) realisation and experience. They all aim to awaken the meditative state in daily life situations so that there is a fundamental transformation in our perception and level of energy.
The fundamental message of the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra is that we can be more aware moment to moment in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. Each moment and each situation can be a portal to deeper realisation. There is no need to disappear into a cave or escape the world. Nothing is rejected, and every situation has the potential to open our eyes to the miracle of existence and the wonder of our own being.
The Vigyana Bhairava Tantra is not so much concerned with giving us wordy intellectual answers but with giving us the techniques to attain the answers from our own experience. Direct perception removes doubt so that there are no questions. Spiritual life is not about intellectual debate but communion.
All of the practices are designed to calm the turbulent mind and to focus it in the present moment, for it is only in the NOW that transformation of perception is possible. It is only the present moment that is pregnant with promise – the promise of identifying with and living in Awareness.
Note: these teachings and practices are fully explained in Swamiji’s book Insight into Reality – the Tantric Teachings of the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra available from Mandala Yoga Ashram.
