Yoga and Ayurveda
Jayadhara (Jane Cluley)
Sunday 19th May, 10.00 – 4.00pm
Grenoside Community Hall, S35 8PR
Yoga and Ayurveda nourish each other, they are sister sciences. The workshop will use Ayurveda Yoga Therapy Vinyasas (asana sequences), pranayama and Deep Restorative Relaxation to balance the three doshas of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It will be informed by the teaching of Mukunda Stiles and will explore how yoga practice has the potential to bring about lasting change in health, lifestyle and outlook on life.
In the afternoon, we will consider routines and dietary changes from an Ayurvedic viewpoint that support a healthy gut and digestive system. Recent scientific research is showing the importance of healthy gut microbiome for well-being which has been a central understanding from Ayurveda since ancient times albeit expressed in different terms.
Please bring the following props with you if possible: Bolster (or cushions to use instead), three blankets, 2” and 1” block, eye pillow.
Jayadhara (Jane Cluley) began practising yoga at university, trained as a yoga teacher with British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and has been teaching since 1988, she is a BWY Foundation and BWYQ Diploma Course tutor. After living and studying at Bihar School of Yoga in India for several years she gained an MA in yoga philosophy.
She has a particular interest in making ancient philosophy accessible to everyone, yoga for mental health and in the benefits of adopting Ayurvedic routines and diet.
This will be a very uplifting and informative day of yoga with a tutor who has a wealth of knowledge, believes in sharing from her own experience and has a talent for expressing her teaching clearly and enjoyably.
