Breathing Space : Finding Stillness in a Busy World
Saturday 23rd November, 10.00 – 4.00pm
With Namrata Devi (Lesley Wood)
Grenoside Community Hall, Sheffield, S35
This session is based around preparing for Winter and also the experience of Kumbaka.
Life is often very busy nowadays and it can feel particularly stressful in the lead up to Christmas. This workshop will include a variety of Yoga practices we can use to find stillness and quietness in the middle of a busy day.
Yoga at it’s best is a system for living, and it is important to keep reminding ourselves of the quantity and quality of tools we have in Yoga for maintaining health & well being. This workshop will remind us of some of the tools and techniques we might have forgotten about as well as giving us a few more to work with!
The day itself will be primarily one of practice, taking time to gather, sit in stillness and nourish.
Kumbhaka is the naturally occurring space between the breaths. Discovering, extending and exploring that space is at the heart of Classical Pranayama. In Kumbhaka there is the possibility of absolute stillness in body and mind, a stillness where the ups and downs of life drop away and we come home to the great harmony of existence.
A main focus of this workshop will on breathing / pranayama techniques which will help develop our experience of Kumbhaka
If you have a mala please bring it along to this workshop. Namrata will have a few to borrow if you need one. If you wish to buy a mala please contact us.
