Sheffield Yoga Days began in 2002 and since that time have gone from strength to strength.

We are now able to bring some of the top Yoga teachers in the UK to Sheffield to share their knowledge and inspiration.

These days are open to anyone keen to deepen their understanding of Yoga practice and lifestyle.

Forthcoming dates for 2008

19th April* Swami Pragyamurti
(10.00am – 5.00pm)
Tools for Transformation

We are very pleased and indeed honoured to have Swami Pragyamurti teaching a day for us in Sheffield. She is our inspiration in Yoga and is known internationally both as a great teacher and as a shining example of Yoga.

Swami Pragyamurti has been teaching for over 30 years. Her work has included the establishment and teaching of the UK Satyananda Teacher Training Course, working with people with HIV / AIDS and teaching Yoga in prisons. She is a regular speaker at BWY Congress.

Her warmth and wisdom demonstrate how the Indian tradition of Sannyasa can be integrated successfully with life in a busy Western city.

“We shall be looking at the issues and energies of Manipura, Anahata and Vishuddhi Chakras and how and why they are important to us.

The issues of power, love and communication seem to be very misunderstood nowadays and balance in these areas is essential.

We will discover some ways of working, for example through the Chakra system, in order to become more effective human beings, to work lovingly for the good of humanity instead of continuing to obsess about our body, our muscles, ligaments etc; and to remember that Yoga means unity, oneness with ourselves, with each other and with the divine.”

This will be a very special day; please book early to guarantee a place.

This day will be 10.00am – 5.00pm

17th May* Swami Vedantananda Living Yoga

This day is the perfect follow on from our day in April. Swami Vedantananda is another internationally respected and much loved Yoga teacher.

She has taught for over 20 years in Yoga Centres worldwide. She is highly innovative and created the ‘Yoga for Children’ module for the British Wheel of Yoga.

Swami Vedanta currently lives in Portugal where she runs retreats for Yoga teachers and teacher training courses.

This is a rare opportunity to work with her in the UK.

The day will examine living the path of Yoga using all the wonderful techniques available to us.

There will be a mix of asana, pranayama, mudra and bandha, as well as Yoga Nidra and some meditation practice.

There will also be a short and light look at Yoga philosophy and how it relates to our daily lives.

Often we are calm and serene during our Yoga practice, but when we come out of the room we shout at the kids or kick the cat!

Living Yoga means living with awareness in every moment, not just when we are on the mat.

21st June* Philip Xerri The Dynamic Breath, AUM and the Chakras

Philip is probably the most well known teacher of pranayama in the UK.

He initially trained with Dr Swami Gitananda in India in 1980, and he has been teaching Yoga and pranayama continuously ever since.

Philip’s teaching is always very enjoyable.

He brings clarity and lightness both to the fundamental mechanics of breathing and to the deeper and more powerful aspects of pranayama.

The morning session will involve asana, movement sequences and breathing ratios aimed at maximising the health, flexibility and potential of the breathing mechanism.

In the afternoon there will be an exploration of the connections between ‘basic breathing’ and Pranayama using Mudras and Mantras, leading to practices which connect Pranayama with the Chakras.

12th October* Paul Harvey Yoga and the Stages of Life
